Mason's First Haircut

Big day for Mason....... his first haircut!! Look at those long luscious locks! I can't believe how long his hair was.

We tried telling him what it would be like, but apparently we didn't do a good enough job. He sat in the car at the salon and they put a cape on him. Instant screaming & crying! So the stylist told us to have him sit on our lap.

But that didn't really help...... he screamed and cried the whole time! It was rough. The hair stylist was a saint, it didn't seem to bother her at all.

It bothered me though, I was sweating. Ha! Literally screamed and cried the whole time, yelling "no no no no"

Not great pictures, but here is the new 'do!

We decided to get some French Fries to celebrate being done with a hair cut :) We loved the new hair cut, he was such a handsome little boy! There were definitely some awkward spots where hairs were longer than others, but the lady did a great job while dealing with his thrashing. The week of Mason's 2nd birthday was his first hair cut.

Addison & Fuzzy Wuzzy

Addison drew a Mickey Mouse on her new tablet. It's a pretty good Mickey!

Look at this crazy-haired man :)

So this girl had been begging for a stuffed animal. I'm not a stuffed animal person. There were having "stuffie" day (I hate the word 'stuffie', just say stuffed animal. It's not hard.) at school and I sent a doll for her. Ha! I had actually donated the few stuffed animals we had to her old school. They were taking up space and she never played with them. Well that came back to bite me. Ha! Now she wanted one and I had to BUY one. BUT being the bargain shopper I am, I figured out I could get one cheap at Build-a-Bear!

While waiting in line, Mason wanted to use her pockets.

They had a "birthday bear" where you pay the price of the age they are turning in the month. Addison got to run the pump that filled her bear.

Addison got to put the heart in her bear, before it was sewn up.

Then she got to name her bear. She chose Fuzzy Wuzzy.

Look at that smile!! Totally worth it. She was so excited. Going through the process with her was fun. They had all sorts of outfits to buy, but she kept it pretty basic with the birthday shirt.

Addison with her prize bear. I didn't take any pictures but we also met Dale & Evonne for lunch at Texas Roadhouse. It was good to see them!

This kid and his school bus. We almost left it at Build a Bear but someone saw it. We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart and he "drove" his bus all the way from the back of the store to the front. Ha!

Then we went to Homemakers. Yes, for Addison's birthday. She was excited, for real. What's not to like.....huge store to run in, escalator, elevator, AND free cookies. Oh and she gets excited for lemonade. She had a blast!

Birthday Celebration with HP & mini golfing

Mason was more excited for Addison's new blue shoes than she was! He was dying to get them on and ran around the house happy as a clam.

We met Grandma Rita & Grandpa Ron for the traditional birthday meal! This was the thing Addison was looking forward to the most for her birthday. She was pumped for some ice cream!

Mason was all over the place. Ha! Grandma Rita brought him a little gift too, a monster school bus and another small bus. He was running cars all over that place!

We tried to go bowling at Perfect Games..... but I failed to check ahead (no idea I needed to) and there was a bowling tournament. So we couldn't bowl. BUT they do have mini golf so we did that instead! Pretty slow day on the course, so that was nice. We played some holes multiple times and we all had a good time.

Then we played in the arcade a little bit. Addison LOVED it. She had never played in an arcade before. I thought it was funny that Addison was trying to lift Mason so he could shoot. Mason did actually make a basket while standing on the ledge.

Eventful end to our birthday celebration..... taking cover in the basement from a tornado. I have some anxiety after seeing the tornado blocks from our house in 2018. So we took cover and hung out for a while. Addison was pretty scared and I asked her what she was worried about. She said "losing power like we did during the derecho". Ha! Okay, well, I could resolve that fear. So we made a plan of where we could go or what we could do if we lost power. I didn't tell her that her fear should be the tornado flattening our house...... lol. All was good, it stayed a few miles away. Whew!

Happy 6th Birthday Addison!

April 22, 2022 was Addison's 6th Birthday!! She was looking forward to this for a long time!

She had dance class that night so we couldn't go out to eat, but she was happy with a picnic!

Grandma Rita & Grandpa Ron surprised Addison and stopped by to see her on her birthday. They helped us sing Happy Birthday and eat some cake.

On her lap, she is holding her Frozen watch. That was her birthday gift that morning to wear to school. She had been wanting a watch, she loved it!

Yup, she didn't want for a fork! Just picked up her cake and went to town. Ha!

She took treats to school and dance class, she loved celebrating with her friends.

Easter

Mason drove his bus route for 45 minutes before bed that night. He just drove it up and around his crib all night!

Happy Easter! Kids with their Easter Baskets. Yes they are wearing Christmas jammies. They did an Easter Egg hunt at our house and loved it. We do lots of Easter Egg Hunts in our house, and they don't even have to be filled eggs!

Grandma Rita gave Addison an Easter bunny waffle maker.

We went to the Lents Easter that day, then came home and ordered Casey's breakfast pizza. Sent this picture to Uncle Landon because he used our number to order pizzas and earned us a free one!

Aunt Ginny & Aunt Cathy gave the kids Easter baskets and did an Easter Egg hunt for them. Addison got pink eggs on her hunt and felt so special (the rest of the kids that age are boys).

Easter Baskets with Grandma & Grandpa

Tried to get Mason to pose for a photo with his Easter Basket from Grandma & Grandpa.....but that wasn't going to happen when he peaked in the bag!!

School bus!!! He was so excited! He didn't need anything else.

He did finally sit after he got that bus.

School buses were one of his favorite things at Easter, and still are today! He LOVES yelling "SCHOOL BUS!" every time we see one. Those doctor appointments at 7:30 or 8am in Ankeny are a jackpot. We see tons of buses driving through town. Now, he loves to see a school bus and tell me "That's Addison's favorite one" haha

Not too cold to get the gator out, Addison was pumped. She had waited a long time for that gator!

Playing catch with Grandpa Ron. Tball was coming up so she had to practice!
