Coming home from Florida

So after the Splash Pad, we stopped at the house to change and get our stuff to go up to the big pool and swim. Well, I was packing the bags and Addison was going to the bathroom. Addison was washing her hands and Mason climbed up on the stool behind her. Then I heard screaming and crying. Mason had fallen off the stool and hit his mouth on the edge of the stool. And had a mouth full of blood. :(

So I was trying to get Mason's blood cleaned up, figure out what happened and calm him down. Then I saw a hole in the front. He had lost a tooth. :( UGH. Ryan found it on the bathroom rug. There was some definite chaos going on! I immediately called Tracey, as she has dealt with this with Conner. She told us to call our dentist at home. I spoke with a wonderful receptionist who was very calm and told me his kid had knocked out teeth too. They asked if we had any concerns with a head injury (no, thank goodness). They had the dentist call me back and he called back very quickly. Ultimately, we had no other concerns, we sent the dentist some pictures that he was able to look at. Thank goodness for COVID and being able to text pictures now!

It was an incredibly stressful night, but he did okay. He slept right away after from all the stress, then woke up and wanted to eat. He ate mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and a whole bunch of other soft foods.

It was stressful trying to come up with enough soft foods to keep this kid happy. He's not big into yogurt and applesauce, so it wasn't easy! We were flying out at 6am, so I made some Mickey Mouse waffles and took them to the airport.

This is how the kids slept on the plane.

Happy boy on the airplane, I was trying to get good pictures of his missing tooth to send the dentist again.

We got home on a Friday and Addison and I went to Fareway looking for soft foods to feed Mason. I told her she is going to have to be a really good big sister and help us take care of Mason. She really wanted Bomb pops, so she said "I will be really really good helping with Mason for the next year if I can have Bomb pops". Ha! I was thinking 'for the weekend' but she promised a whole year so you can bet she got Bomb pops! Hahah

Train Park & Ice Cream

On our last day in Florida, we went to the "train park".

They had this little train that we could buy tickets to ride. Addison was so excited. Ryan and I weren't so sure it was going to be able to pull all us adults - ha!

They had these little "scenes" on the train ride, it was fun to see. This one is a popular hotel on Fort Myers Beach.

Baseball field (both Red Sox & Twins have spring training in Fort Myers) and then a John Deere dealership.

It was quite hot that day, so we went to the splash pad at the park. Mason didn't have much interest, but Addison had fun. When we were in FL in August, the news said a kid got a 2nd degree burn from this park. Crazy!

We stopped at the gas station on the way home to get some ice cream. It's a self-serve buffet station and we were pretty bummed a bunch of kinds of ice cream were out :( but we made do with what they had. Mason liked the toppings more than the ice cream. We like to eat a lot of ice cream in Florida!

The last picture of Mason with a full mouth of teeth......

Red Sox Practice

I bought some jelly window clings at the dollar store for entertainment for Mason...... looks like it worked!

Addison and Ryan went to go to donuts for us one morning..... and came home with 13!! Ryan was ordering 6 at Dunkin Donuts but the guy kept putting donuts in the box saying "I will take care of ya". It was strange, but they went with it and we got the donuts for the price of 6. Nice deal! Good thing we love donuts!

Baseball had been on a strike so Spring Break Training was starting late this year. The Red Sox first Spring Training game was the day before we left and tickets were about $90 each. So yet another year we didn't get to go to a training game. Maybe next year! So we went to the Red Sox practice instead.

A teenage kid gave the kids a ball and told them to have this guy sign it. I remember nothing about the guy now (since this was March), but Ryan probably does.

Signed balls.

Playing tag at the ball field. Mason liked waving at the players as they walked by. It was kind of fun to go to the practice, pretty laid back. It was ridiculously hot so I'm glad we didn't go to a game. Practice was enough for us!

Mason LOVED the golf cart!

We took some night rides on the golf cart around the complex. The kids had a blast!

Paul & Rita had a ride-on four wheeler that the kids liked to ride. Though it's supposed to be a single rider but of course these two have to ride together!

Florida Fun

This seems so long ago! Oh how I want to go back. After the kids took their long car nap, we stopped at Parrot Key for some photo ops.

We stopped for a late lunch at Doc Ford's by Fort Myers beach. The kids love going out to eat and Mason waved at everyone.

This crazy dude at no interest in getting in the water, but he had a blast playing outside the water! He kept throwing things in the pool for Addison or Ryan to retrieve for him. And he played forever with this duck that squirts water. I'm not sure which I love more, the laugh or the curls!

Beach Day!

We were pretty lucky to score a nice parking spot going to the beach over Spring Break. We were so happy we had to take a picture.

Mason's first time at the beach! He wasn't so sure about the sand. He did not want to get his toes in the sand.

We went to Sanibel Island, which is know for the shells. Ryan's stance is dubbed the "Sanibel Stoop", which is the seashell searching stance. Ha!

Pictures of the beach that don't do justice to the amount of shells there are!

The kids LOVED the shells! I love experiencing new things with them. It warms my heart :)

Mason wanted to spend most of his time on the blanket or in the chair with me. He did not appreciate the birds on the beach. Ha! He was scared of them, until I showed him that they are scared of us and I chased them. He thought that was really fun, so I'm sure people were laughing at me, carrying him and running at birds!

We spent a couple hours here, Addison could have spent all day! She was having so much fun picking out shells. She had a whole bucket she wanted to bring home, we had to narrow it down. Ha! We do have a mason jar on our window sill of shells from Florida and sand from Mexico.

Snacks at the beach!

And good naps after! Both kids fell asleep right away. We drove up to Captiva just to see what there was to see. Not much. There is not much to see. Ha! There were tall shrubs or trees lining the roads on both sides so we didn't see much! But it was a nice trip anyways, we enjoyed the beach day!
